Armenia Proposes Ceasefire Violation Investigation Mechanism to Azerbaijan
Yerevan – Armenia has formally proposed to Azerbaijan the establishment of a bilateral mechanism aimed at investigating incidents of ceasefire violations along their shared border. The proposal, conveyed through diplomatic channels from the Office of the Prime Minister of Armenia to the Administration of the President of Azerbaijan, seeks to address recent tensions.
The initiative follows a denial by the Armenian Defense Ministry of allegations from Azerbaijan regarding artillery fire originating from Armenian territory. Prime Minister N. Pashinyan emphasized Armenia's commitment to de-escalation efforts amid heightened regional tensions.
The European observer mission monitoring the Azerbaijani-Armenian border has refrained from assigning blame for the ceasefire breaches.
Azerbaijan has not yet responded to Yerevan's proposal, issued against the backdrop of recent incidents. On June 21 and 22, the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan reported shelling from the Armenian side of Nakhchivan and Kelbajar district.
