Armenia will benefit from implementation of Sochi agreements - Matthew Bryza
Baku/02.12.21/Turan: The results of the November 26 trilateral meeting in Sochi were the confirmation by the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia of their previous commitments and agreements. This is related to the restoration of regional communications and economic cooperation. Former U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan Matthew Bryza told Turan Agency, commenting on the results of the Sochi meeting.
"Previous agreements on the opening of transport communications have not been implemented due to the political situation in Armenia. Prime Minister Pashinyan was attacked by his political opponents and, above all, by the Karabakh clan, the Dashnaks and the Armenian diaspora in the United States," Bryza said.
To his thinking, the Sochi meeting once again reaffirmed that Moscow is the main actor in the South Caucasus, and it is determined to bring the process to the end.
Pashinyan's observation that in case of resumption of economic ties and cooperation Armenia will make a great profit was also important. "Armenia will receive significant investments in case of cooperation with Azerbaijan and Turkey and will be able to integrate not only into regional but international projects as well," the diplomat said.
The agreement of the sides to start the process of border demarcation and delimitation between Azerbaijan and Armenia is of particular importance. This may end the numerous clashes on the border and human losses.
"I think thank the OSCE Minsk Group could play a significant role in implementing these objectives. Russia, the U.S. and France should play a unified role in the process. When it comes to the upcoming meeting on December 15 in Brussels, the European Union should also play its positive role in promoting and implementing the agreements already reached. This is also a chance for France to prove that it is an objective actor and does not take a one-sided, pro-Armenian position," Braiza stressed. -02/16B-
