Armenia will try to obtain "de-occupation" of Nagorno-Karabakh - Pashinyan
Baku/14.04.21/Turan: The settlement of the Karabakh conflict is the most important task for the near future, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated in the Armenian parliament today.
“We need to talk about the future; the most important thing is the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. We must raise the issue of de-occupation of the territory of the Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Region. We must formulate this not as a military issue, but as a negotiated political issue,” the Prime Minister said.
Further, he said that it is necessary to continue the implementation of the resolution "Secession for the salvation of Nagorno-Karabakh", which "should become the core of the negotiation process." He substantiated his position by the opening of the Trophy Park in Baku, regarding this as a manifestation of "hatred" towards the Armenians.
Referring to the Second Karabakh War, Pashinyan said that he had made a decision on an armistice, having consulted with the “president” of Karabakh and the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces.
“I decided that we must achieve a ceasefire through certain, rather serious concessions, and in this regard, I called a meeting of the Security Council,” Pashinyan said.
After that, he called Russian President Vladimir Putin and said that the Armenian side is ready to make territorial concessions to Azerbaijan, "returning" the territory within the framework of the "5 + 2" format. In his words, Yerevan wanted to link the liberation of the territories with the determination of the status of Nagorno-Karabakh. However, Baku demanded that the return of the territories should not be in the "5 + 2" format, but in full and immediately. Moreover, Azerbaijan categorically refused to discuss the status of Nagorno-Karabakh in any form.
Referring to the security issue of Armenia, Pashinyan stated that Yerevan is unequivocally betting on Russia and is discussing with Moscow the possibility of expanding the 102nd military base and placing its part in the Syunik region (Zangezur).
He also stressed that Armenia stands for the opening of all regional communications, which is vitally important for Armenia's trade and economic relations with Russia and Iran. -02D-
