Armenians try to block the movement of Azerbaijani builders from Terter to Kalbajar
Baku/20.01.21/Turan: On January 18, a group of residents of Armenian villages blocked the road near the village of Kheyvali (Drbon) in the former Mardakert region (now Terter). They expressed their indignation at the fact that Azerbaijani transport convoys pass along this road from Terter to Kalbajar.
The participants of the action appealed to the Russian peacekeepers accompanying the convoy with a request to open the way for them to the Armenian city of Vardenis through Kalbajar.
The Armenians conveyed their request in writing to the command of the peacekeepers. According to Armenian media reports, the protesters motivate their position as follows: "If Azerbaijanis can travel through our territory, why can't we travel to Vardenis through Kalbajar?"
It is noteworthy that the Armenians demand that the road be opened for them not only through Kalbajar, but also through Agdam, so that it is more convenient to travel to Khankend.
According to the video of the talks between the Armenians and the Russian general, the protesters threaten to block regularly the road. They are also outraged that the drivers of Azerbaijani trucks are making "insulting gestures" to them. They did not specify which ones.
The Russian general says that it is necessary to normalize relations between Artsakh and Azerbaijan and that he has already banned Azerbaijani drivers from filming the passage on the road on their phone.
Two days after this incident, neither the command of the peacekeepers nor official Baku commented on the incident and did not respond to the demands of the Armenians. -02D-
