Armenian Foreign Ministry asks OSCE MG countries to help release Armenian prisoners of war
Baku/20.01.21/Turan: On January 20, Armenian Foreign Minister Ara Ayvazyan, at a meeting with the ambassadors of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing countries in Armenia, asked them to assist in the release of Armenian prisoners of war.
Ayvazyan also asked for assistance in resolving humanitarian issues in Karabakh related to the needs of the Armenian population of the region. In this regard, he noted the importance of participation in solving these issues of international structures, and in particular the UN, the Armenian media reported.
Ayvazyan drew the attention of the ambassadors to the relevance of the issue of preserving the Armenian historical, cultural and religious heritage in the territories that remained under Azerbaijani control.
Official Baku declares that the prisoners of war were exchanged on the principle of “All for all”. Forty-four prisoners of war were transferred to the Armenian side, and 12 to the Azerbaijani side. The Armenian military detained on the territory of Azerbaijan after the Statement on ending the war on November 10, 2019 was signed by Azerbaijan and Armenia, with the mediation of Russia, Baku regards them as saboteurs who do not fall under this document.
Official Baku also assured that all historical, cultural and religious monuments in the liberated territories were taken under state protection in accordance with the law.-02D-
