Azerbaijan and Turkey started military exercises on border with Iran
Baku/05.12.22/Turan: Within the framework of an agreement on military cooperation between Azerbaijan and Turkey, the armed forces of the two countries have launched joint military exercises with the participation of various types of troops, combat and special engineering equipment and military aviation.
The exercises cover Baku city and Astara, Jabrail and Imishli regions bordering Iran.
The Ministry of Defense reports that according to the scenario, units of Ground Forces, Air Forces, Special Forces, Engineering Forces and Rocket & Artillery Troops of Azerbaijan together with soldiers of Turkish Armed Forces carry out various training and combat missions.
During the exercises various tasks are carried out in the use of artillery, aviation and other types of troops in military operations, organization of cohesion, setting up pontoon bridges across rivers to create crossings, as well as landing troops in the depths of the conditional enemy.
The main focus of the joint exercises is to ensure combat coherence in the interaction of troops, improvement of management, exchange of experience and increase of professionalism of personnel, the report said.
The current exercises can be seen as a response by Azerbaijan and Turkey to the recent exercises of the Iranian army on the border with Azerbaijan.
That time the Iranian army also carried out laying of pontoon bridges over the Araz River, which was an open threat to Azerbaijan. -02D-
