Azerbaijan evacuates embassy from Tehran
Baku/28.01.23/Turan: Employees of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Tehran and their families will be evacuated in the near future. This was announced on Saturday, January 28 by Foreign Ministry spokesman Aykhan Hajizade. According to him, a special flight Baku-Tehran-Baku has been organized for this purpose.
According to him, the body of the head of the security service of the embassy, Orkhan Askerov, who died as a result of the terrorist act, will also be delivered to Baku. The funeral of the deceased should take place on Sunday, January 29 in Baku.
Two other security personnel were injured and operated on at a Tehran hospital.
Recall that on the morning of January 27, a group of terrorists carried out an armed attack on the Azerbaijani embassy in Tehran. One of the attackers was detained by an embassy security officer and handed over to the Iranian authorities.
Official Tehran said that the cause of the incident was the attacker's family problems. This statement aroused indignation in Baku, where the incident is considered a premeditated and prepared terrorist act. Given such neglect by the Iranian side, the Azerbaijani authorities decided to evacuate the embassy. -02B-
