Azerbaijan Introduces Special Quarantine Regime
Baku / 23.03.20 / Turan: From 00:00 on March 24 to 00:00 on April 20, 2020, a special quarantine regime is introduced in Azerbaijan in the framework of measures against the spread of the Corona Virus infection. This was reported by the operational headquarters under the Cabinet of Ministers:
According to the quarantine regime, citizens over 65 are not allowed to leave their homes. For single individuals, services will be provided by social workers.
Entry and exit restrictions are introduced in the cities of Baku, Sumgait and the Absheron region with the exception of special vehicles (ambulance, emergency repair, rescue and freight vehicles).
Inter-district and inter-city passenger traffic is suspended.
The organization provides for special charter flights within the established schedule to take Azerbaijani citizens from abroad with their placement in compulsory quarantine for a period of 14-21 days.
When organizing evacuation, preference will be given to families with young children, the elderly and persons in need of medical care.
The Baku Transport Agency has been instructed to open special express bus lines between metro stations. Passengers are advised to minimize the use of the metro.
It is forbidden for citizens to gather in the streets, boulevards, parks and other public places in groups of more than 10 people.
Service at the catering facilities on site is limited to 12.00-15.00. At the same time, online orders are allowed to be accepted without time limits.
Monitoring of compliance with the quarantine regime is assigned to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. —06D-

When asked about the arrested climate activists and opposition figures in Azerbaijan, she stated that Germany advocates for the release of government critics and that she would raise this issue during her meeting with Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister. Activist Nijat Ibrahim, who was detained in Baku pre-trial detention center-1, inflicted numerous wounds on himself on November 20 in protest against unjustified criminal prosecution, his wife Parvin Ibrahim told Turan. According to her, on November 21, her husband called her and informed her that the day before he had inflicted incised wounds on himself with a piece of mirror. In particular, he cut his throat and ears.
