Azerbaijan to Sue France 2 TV
Azerbaijani authorities intend to file a lawsuit against the state-run French TV channel France 2 after the showing of investigative journalism, in which Azerbaijan is called "dictatorship" and its President Ilham Aliyev is called a "despot." This, with reference to the lawyer Olivier Prado, was announced by Agency France-Presse on September 9.
The journalists Elise Luce and Laurent Richard from the beginning of the program represent Azerbaijan as one of the harshest dictatorships in the world, the French lawyer of the Azerbaijani leadership Olivier Prado said.
On Tuesday, September 8, France 2 as part of the weekly investigative program Cash Investigation showed a program dedicated to President Francois Hollande's visit to Azerbaijan in the spring of 2014.
After shooting in Azerbaijan the French journalists were seized the footage, including interviews with opposition activists and human rights defenders.
"During the whole program without any evidence the Azerbaijani leader was categorically presented as a Caucasian "despot" and "dictator"," said the lawyer.
According to Olivier Prado, he does not know "dictatorships that would sit in the Council of Europe, abolish the death penalty and guarantee free Internet."
He added that Azerbaijan "does not intend to tolerate this and will sue those who have slandered it." -02D-
