Baku / 20.02.19 / Turan: Implementation of the Southern Gas Corridor project will change
European energy map, and will be important in the development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the European Union, stated the President Ilham Aliyev, speaking today at a meeting of the Consultative Council of the Southern Gas Corridor project in Baku.
Touching upon the participation of the European Commission in this project, he noted the active role of Great Britain and the United States. He said that active construction of elements of SGC is underway, of which three are already in operation, and the last one is TAP, is close to completion and it is 87% built.
This will allow starting gas deliveries to Europe as early as 2020, Aliyev said.
The total length of the TAP is 878 km through Greece, Albania, the Adriatic Sea and Italy.
The project is designed to transport natural gas from the Azerbaijani Shah Deniz field in the framework of "Stage 2". The total cost of the project SGC $ 40 billion -02D-

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) today issued five rulings on applications from Azerbaijan. The case of "Afgan Mammadov v. Azerbaijan" concerned the complainant's exclusion from the Bar Association. Mammadov was expelled based on a complaint filed by a colleague, which he considered unjust. The ECHR ruled that Mammadov's rights had been violated and ordered Azerbaijan to pay him €5,000 in compensation for moral damage and €1,000 to cover legal costs.

During the ongoing COP29 climate conference in Baku on November 14, a group of activists staged a protest condemning Russia's aggression against Ukraine. The activists also denounced countries that supply oil and weapons to nations waging aggressive wars. The protest featured placards with slogans such as: "From fossil fuels to peace!", "End war crimes!", "Punish the aggressor!", and "Phase out fossil fuel use to achieve peace!" among others.
