Azerbaijani activists called on the UN to recognize the genocide of Ukrainians
Baku/21.04.22/Turan: The "Azerbaijani Platform for Support to Ukraine in the Name of Democracy" has taken the initiative to recognize "the massacres committed by Russia in Ukraine as genocide."
The appeal of the platform to the international community noted that intensive bombing of cities and villages of Ukraine, massacres of civilians, forcible removal of people, including children from the occupied territories of Ukraine to the Russian Federation, corresponds to the signs of the crime of genocide, defined by the International Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crimes of Genocide from December 19, 1949.
The platform calls for the convening of an extraordinary session of the UN General Assembly and the adoption of a decision on the qualification of "Russia's war crimes against Ukraine" as "genocide".
The General Assembly should call for the same decision the European Parliament, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and the parliaments of all states of the world.
The General Assembly should also call on the governments of the countries of the world to interrupt trade relations with the Russian Federation.
