Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry on “Elections” in Karabakh
Baku / 31.03.20 / Turan: “Elections in the Nagorno-Karabakh region of Azerbaijan can be held only within the framework of the Constitution of Azerbaijan and with the participation of the entire population of the region. Any elections will be possible only after the withdrawal of the Armenian occupying forces from the territories occupied by them, the return of the expelled Azerbaijani population to their places of origin, as well as the restoration of dialogue and cooperation between the Armenian and Azerbaijani communities of Nagorno-Karabakh,” the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan said in connection with the 31 March "elections" in Nagorno-Karabakh.
“The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry reiterates that the settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is possible only on the basis of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan within its internationally recognized borders. The military occupation of the territory of Azerbaijan is not a solution to the problem, and any attempt to impose a fait accompli, including through the organization of fictitious “elections”, will never lead to the political results desired by Armenia and will not bring any positive prospects for this country. Azerbaijan will never reconcile with the occupation of its internationally recognized territories,” the document says. -02D-
