Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry's delegation held meetings with U.S. Congress members
Baku/22.05.23/Turan: Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov is on a visit to the United States.
The Foreign Ministry's press service reports that on May 18 the delegation held meetings with members of the Senate Tom Coton and Ben Cardin, as well as with congressmen Jack Bergman, Jack Fleischmann, Michael Ezell and Robert Aderholt.
Azerbaijani and American bilateral ties, regional processes as well as peace talks between Azerbaijan and Armenia were discussed during the meetings.
Note that the senators and members of the Congress chamber were briefed on post-conflict mine threats and reconstruction works.
During the meetings, it was also pointed out that radical Armenian organisations had misinformed members of Congress due to the establishment of the Lachin border crossing point on the Azerbaijani-Armenian border.
At the same time, it was stressed that resolutions put forward by some members of Congress based on one-sided biased information, do not serve the national interests of the United States, but harm the ongoing peace talks.
The delegation also visited the U.S.-Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce and met with representatives of Azerbaijani communities residing in the federal district of Columbia and surrounding states.
Besides, the Azerbaijani delegation held meetings with Edward Mermelstein, chairman of the Foreign Affairs Commission of New York City Hall, as well as with representatives of the local Azerbaijani community.
Meetings with other US officials are also planned during the visit, which will continue until May 24. -16В06-
