Azerbaijani human rights activists held briefing in Brussels
Baku / 22.11.17 / Turan: On Wednesday on the eve of the Fifth Eastern Partnership Summit, a briefing was held on the problems of human rights violations in Azerbaijan in the Brussels Press Center. The audience was made by the Executive Director of the Institute for Reporters Freedom and Safety Emin Huseynov and the head of the Institute for Peace and Democracy Leyla Yunus. They noted the sharp deterioration in the state of human rights in the country recently, the persecution of civil society activists, journalists, bloggers, believers. According to human rights activists, the pressure does not stop in prison prisons, where many of those arrested are subjected to torture and inhuman treatment.
The authorities are trying to completely suppress protest votes, blocking critical websites, pursuing bloggers on false accusations. It was noted that the Council of Europe, the institutions of the European Union should not remain indifferent to the situation with human rights in Azerbaijan, fight with lobbyists of Baku trying to improve Baku's image in Europe.
Human rights defenders also urged the EU countries to take sanctions against human rights violators in Azerbaijan. -06D--
