Prosecutors warn human rights activist
Baku / 22.11.17 / Turan: Head of the public association "Legal Education of the Sumgayit Youth" and the editor-in-chief of the website "Yukselishn Namine" Elchin Mammadov was summoned to the Sumgayit city prosecutor's office today, where he stayed for two hours.
The senior assistant to the public prosecutor of the city, Elviz Salayev, handed him an official written warning. It concerns the publications of Mamed on the site and his posts in social networks.
He is charged with "not objective coverage of the country's dynamic development, improving the living standard of the population, economic reforms," and even the publication of expressions that contradict morality and ethics. According to the prosecutor's office, Mammad does this, for the sake of sensation, not based on facts.
If this happens again, Mammad will face more serious measures in the future. At the same time, he was not given specific publications. Mammad himself rejected the claims of the prosecutor's office, believing that he was being pressured by the protection of the rights of political prisoners and the harassment of lawyers. -05B06
