Azerbaijani NGOs Support NDI

Azerbaijani authorities artificially escalate the situation around Baku office NDİ. Thus, the authorities aim to isolate Azerbaijan from the international community.

This opinion was expressed in a joint statement, several NGOs in Azerbaijan: Association of Legal Education of Sumgait Youth, Center for the Defense of Democracy and Human Rights, Association of Economic Education, Association Khatun in Support of Women's Issues; and Movement for Healthy Future.

The authorities' intention to expel from Azerbaijan a number of international organizations that support civil society, once again proves Baku's desire to prevent the accession of democracy in the country.

The statement authors remind us that the Azerbaijani authorities do not allow access to the Baku office of organizations such as Freedom House and Amnesty International, as well as authoritative structure as the Friedrich Naumann Foundation and Marshall are in Azerbaijan, only at the level coordinator.

The document strongly condemns "the dirty show" around NDI and demands an end to the persecution of civil society.
