Azerbaijanis Call on World to Protect Belarusians
Baku 15.08.20 / Turan: A group of Azerbaijani intellectuals appealed to the world community to protect the citizens of Belarus, who are being severely repressed by the Lukashenka regime.
The initiators of the appeal are writers living in Moscow — Chingiz Huseinov and his wife Elena Tverdislova.
They write about bewilderment at the sight of the lawlessness happening in Belarus in front of the whole world, which is developing into open banditry.
It has become the norm when riot police, instead of protecting people from lawlessness, commit genuine atrocities, regardless of the fact that they face unarmed citizens, young people, women, old people and children. People are forced to agree to be slaves of power, for this they are beaten with clubs, knocked to the ground and dragged, they are fired with rubber bullets, humiliated their human dignity, raped and tortured, and methods are invented to intimidate and suppress their will, which is alien to human nature and all beliefs. This takes place not only in police departments, but also right on the street, in full view of all people.
When will this chaos stop in Europe?
Isn't it time to activate the International Tribunal so that all those who organize and carry out such atrocities are responsible for it according to the law?
The appeal was signed by more than 30 Azerbaijani scientists, journalists, politicians, filmmakers and specialists in other fields. -0-
