Azerbaijans prosecutors office has a chance to prove that it eats bread not in vain

Baku /22.10.19 / Turan: Fascinated by the struggle against the opposition, which official Baku calls "fulfilling the order of pro-Armenian forces," the authorities seem to have forgotten about the Armenian forces themselves.

Every year on February 25-26, senior officials of the General Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan solemnly announce the continuation of the investigation of the Khojaly massacre, the active search for Armenian criminals in order to bring them to justice. However, for some reason the matter does not go beyond these statements.

In February 2009, the deputy military prosecutor of Azerbaijan, Ilham Mammadov, in an interview with the press, stated that the criminal case of the massacres in Khojaly was reclassified as an act of genocide.

"We were able to collect evidence that gives grounds to indict individuals, including members of the 366th regiment of the former Soviet army, who were directly involved in the massacres of civilians in Khojaly.

All of them were prosecuted, and the materials were sent to Interpol. Documents identifying these individuals were also collected.

Interpol agreed with the charges and adopted the guidelines of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the detention of persons who committed international crimes, spreading them," Ilham Mammadov said.

However, after 27 years after the tragedy, none of the 38 people was held accountable. Either Interpol forgot about his duties, or he lost the list submitted by the prosecutor's office of Azerbaijan.

However, the fact is that on the website of Interpol, in the list of persons wanted at the request of Azerbaijan, there are no those war criminals.

According to Ilham Mammadov and other investigators, the operation to attack the city of Khojaly was led by commander of the second battalion of the 366th regiment Seyran Ohanyan, commander of the 3rd battalion Yevgeny Nabokikh, chief of staff of the 1st battalion Valery Chitchyan.

The military regiments Slavik Harutyunyan, Andrey Ishkhanyan, Sergey Beglaryan, Movses Hakobyan, Grigory Kisebekyan, Vachik Mirzoyan, Vachagan Ayriyan, Alexander Hayrapetyan and others took an active part in the killings of the civilian population.

However, it seems that Baku had a chance to detain one of the main participants in this crime - Seyran Ohanyan. According to the Armenian media, on October 21 he went to Germany for treatment. Moreover, he travels to this country once every two years, where he undergoes a compulsory medical examination in Germany.

Maybe the prosecutor"s office of Azerbaijan should remind Interpol of the need to detain this war criminal. -02B-
