"Bakhtiyar's condition breaks my heart" - mother
Baku/25.02.23/Turan: Activist Bakhtiyar Hajiyev, who is being held at the Medical Institution of the Penitentiary Service, has been on hunger strike for 48 days. His condition remains very serious.
On February 25, his mother Solida Movlaeva visited him. The mother asked her son to stop the hunger and agree to take medication.
“However, Bakhtiyar said he was adamant that he would continue the hunger strike until the end. He said that the attitude towards him in the medical institution is not good.He said that if he was returned to the Baku pre-trial detention center No. 1, he could agree to the transfer of the system. He had a very pale complexion, his hands were numb, he could not stand, and he lost even more weight. His condition breaks my heart,” she said.
According to lawyers who visited Bakhtiyar the day before, he has already lost more than 20 kg.
The activist has been on hunger strike for 48 days. Of these, 5 days he held a dry hunger strike. Bakhtiyar Gadzhiev demands to release him, because he was arrested on trumped-up charges.
Bakhtiyar Hajiyev was arrested on December 9 last year on charges of hooliganism and contempt of court.
On December 15, Hajiyev went on a hunger strike demanding his release. He ended his hunger strike on December 28 after persistent calls from members of the public and family members. But on January 9, after the Court of Appeal denied his release from custody, he resumed his hunger strike, which continues to this day.
The courts did not satisfy the numerous requests of lawyers to transfer him to house arrest or release on bail pending the start of the judicial investigation.
This week, the Khatai court extended the arrest for another 2 months, until April 28.-03-
