Baku and Islamabad discuss joint military exercises
Baku/24.05.23/Turan: Chief of the General Staff of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces Kerim Veliyev and Commander of the Pakistani Ground Forces Asim Munir discussed issues of expanding and strengthening military cooperation on Tuesday.
The meeting was held in Islamabad as a part of Veliyev's official visit to Pakistan. According to the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan, the meeting stressed the importance of expanding ties between the types of troops of the armies of the two countries, holding joint exercises Azerbaijan-Pakistan-Turkey and further development of trilateral cooperation.
Also,the sides discussed issues of cooperation in the military, military-technical and military-educational fields, as well as issues of combating terrorism. -0-

Journalist Nargiz Abaslamova, held in Baku's Detention Center No. 1, was subjected to violence by a guard. While passing by the cell of her colleague Sevinj Vagifgizi, Abaslamova tried to greet her, reported on Abzas Media's Facebook page. However, guard Aygul Babaeva forcibly dragged Abaslamova away and deeply scratched the journalist's arm. Abaslamova stated that this is not the first time the mentioned guard has used force and been rude to journalists. A few days ago, Babaeva also used force against Sevinj Vagifgizi.

In 2024, the ECHR made 39 rulings regarding Azerbaijan. In 38 of these, at least one violation of the European Convention on Human Rights was found. Only in one case were no violations identified. These statistics were presented at a press conference by the head of the ECHR at the end of 2024, the legal information website aihmaz.org reported.
