Baku and Kabul to discuss transportation of goods through the BTK
Afghanistan is interested in using the rail route of Baku- Tbilisi-Kars . This was announced on March 18 in Baku at a joint press conference of the Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan and Afghanistan, Elmar Mammadyarov and Zarar Ahmad Osman .
The Ministers stated that at present these issues are also being discussed with Turkmenistan , through which goods from Afghanistan would flow to Azerbaijan and then on to Georgia and Turkey .
According to Mammadyarov, negotiations will be under way with NATO, and the specified export rail cargo from Afghanistan after the anti-terrorist operation has been discussed.
The Afghan minister said that he had already discussed these issues in Georgia and Turkey .
Recall that BTK is expected to be operational in late 2014
Mammadyarov said that Azerbaijan will continue to support Afghanistan after the withdrawal of the coalition forces.
" In Afghanistan, professionals of the National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) are working. Afghan professionals are trained in Azerbaijan Diplomatic, Police and other academies.
Azerbaijan is ready to provide assistance to Afghanistan in energy. An agreement has been reached on the establishment of a bilateral economic commission," he said.
Osman praised Azerbaijan's contribution to the fight against terrorism, recalling that 90 Azerbaijani soldiers are involved in operations in Afghanistan.
He noted with appreciation that the assistance of Azerbaijan will continue after 2015. Osman pointed to the development of cooperation between the two countries in the field of education, investment, and the financial sector. -06D -
