Baku Committed to OSCE Principles on Settlement in Karabakh - Ilham Aliyev
Baku / 15.10.20 / Turan: Baku remains committed to the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict on the basis of the principles determined by the OSCE Minsk Group, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
"These principles have been developed over the years. More than ten years, I would say. In the process of my work with the previous leadership of Armenia, we were very actively moving forward in the process of coordinating positions," Aliyev said during a parallel interview with RIA Novosti of the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia. which they gave on Thursday to the General Director of IA Russia Today Dmitry Kiselev.
"As for the basic principles, everything is clearly spelled out there. It is planned to liberate the occupied Azerbaijani regions in a phased plan. At the first stage, this is the southeastern part of the occupied territories - five regions. At the second stage, these are the territories located between Nagorno-Karabakh and Armenia - the Lachin and Kelbajar regions. Opening of all communications, including those located in other parts of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. Return of refugees and IDPs to their places of origin, which implies the return of Azerbaijani refugees to the territory of Shusha and other areas of the former Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Region. And negotiations on the development of the final status of Nagorno-Karabakh, which must be agreed by the parties," the President added.
According to him, "these are the basic principles that Azerbaijan has always respected and we have developed them." -0-
