Case of former MNS officials sent to court
Baku/07.09.21/Turan: A preliminary investigation in a criminal case on the illegal actions of the ex-head of the Main Military Counterintelligence Directorate of the abolished Ministry of National Security Shirinov Nizami and other officials has been completed.
The indictment in the case has been sent for consideration to the Baku military court, the press service of the General Prosecutor's Office reported today.
The defendants in the cases are also the heads of divisions in the said department - Eljan Abdullayev and Elman Tahirov, and operative Nadir Nazirov.
Shirinov was charged under the Article 182.3.2 (extortion by threats, with aggravated circumstances), 193-1.3.2 (legalization of money or other property obtained by criminal means), 311.3.4 (aggravated bribery). During the investigation, he was under arrest.
Abdullayev, Tahirov and Nazirov were charged under the Article 341.2.3 (abuse of power) and other articles of the Criminal Code. A subscription not to leave was taken from them.
Part of the material damage caused by the accused during the preliminary investigation was reimbursed. In addition, the defendants' real estate was seized.
The Ministry of National Security was liquidated in 2015, but these persons were brought to justice in April this year. —06D-
