Catholicos invites Allahshukur Pashazade in Karabakh
Yerevan/08.01.13/Turan-ArmInfo: Catholicos of All Armenians, Karekin II, invited Allahshukur Pashazade, the Chairman of the Caucasian Muslims Office (CMO) , to meet in Nagorno-Karabakh, on the contact line, reported Vahram Melikyan, spokesman of Etchmiadzin.
He reminded that the proposal to organize a meeting of religious leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan was made in November 2011 in Yerevan, at a tripartite meeting between Karekin II, Pashazade and Patriarch Kirill. The Armenian side has given its consent, but there was not a clear agreement on this issue.
Melikyan noted that recently, at the request of the Catholicos, the head of the Georgian Diocese of the Armenian Church, Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanian conveyed Pashazade during his visit to Georgia an above offer with participation of intellectuals on both sides.
Commenting on the proposal, the spokesman of the CMO, Rahima Dadasheva, told Turan, that such meetings is possible on the basis of agreement with the political leadership. "Taking into account that the talk is about bilateral format, the consent of the government is required. Sheikh informed about it the representative of the Armenian Catholicos during a recent meeting in Tbilisi," she said. -02D-
