CEC defends the interests of Gafarov and takes politically motivated decisions - Hasanli
Baku / 01.02.20 / Turan: The Central Election Commission (CEC) issued a warning to the deputy candidate for the 9th Binagadi Second Election District, representative of the Movement bloc Ulvi Hasanov (Hasanli) and his representative blogger Mehman Huseynov.
The complaint was filed by the representative of another candidate in this constituency - Kamaladdin Gafarov (candidate from the ruling New Azerbaijan Party).
The complaint alleged that Hasanov and Huseynov, having “trained” several people, tried to prevent Gafarov’s meeting with voters. The CEC found these allegations credible and issued an official warning to Hasanov and Huseynov.
In turn, Ulvi Hasanov called the accusations of Gafarov far-fetched. “When Kamaleddin Gafarov met with the voters, we were there too. However, some citizens who came with complaints were not allowed to meet. After the meeting, we talked with these people and highlighted their problems.
The video presented at the CEC shows that the recording was made after Gafarov’s meeting with voters. That is, no one interfered with Gafarov’s meeting,” Hasanov said.
According to him, the true reason for the complaint is that 10 days ago, Hasanov filed an application with the District Electoral Commission with a call to inform what property Gafarov declared. If this information were made public, then its registration should be canceled. Gafarov owns numerous companies, and as a deputy of the parliament of previous convocations, he did not have the right to do business.
Gafarov combines deputy work with the post of deputy director of the National Cancer Center.
Ulvi Hasanov also noted that he was not invited to the CEC when considering a complaint. “The decision of the CEC is absolutely unreasonable and politically motivated and I will appeal it,” Hasanov said. —21B06
