CEC did not agree with the comments from ODIHR observation mission

Baku/17.09.13/Turan : CEC responded to the interim report of the OSCE ODIHR election mission .

In the statement about the comments of international observers about the absence of women candidates for president CEC noted that "gender equality is guaranteed by Article 25 of the Constitution ."

Women are well represented in the parliament, the government, and the judicial authorities of Azerbaijan and have the right to vote in the presidential election. Focusing attention in the report on the fact that women did not get the opportunities available to them , at least, is puzzling , especially since in many European states there are no women in the Central Election Commission, the statement said.

The statement expresses disagreement with the fact that the authorities have not considered any of the ODIHR recommendations , except for the complaints procedure .

According to the CEC , 12 of the 17 recommendations were performed.

As for the formula of election commissions, according to recommendations of the OSCE ODIHR, the commissions have been formed on a parity basis. However, the opposition parties have deliberately thwarted a quorum, which is why the CEC could not work within the statutory period to make appropriate decisions.

CEC rejects accusations of accountability of TV and radio channels of power. -16/06D-
