Center for Protection of Political Prisoners Calls for Participation in National Councils Rally
Baku / 1/19/19 / Turan: The Center for the Protection of Political Prisoners made a statement supporting the rally appointed by the National Council of Democratic Forces on Saturday demanding the release of political prisoners.
The Center"s statement says that following the initiation of new criminal cases against political prisoners Ali Insanov, Taleh Bagirzadeh, Mammad Ibrahim, Telman Shiraliyev and Firudin Zeynalov, a fabricated charge was brought against the blogger Mehman Huseynov.
"The authorities, faced with protests from the local and international community, put themselves in a ridiculous and self-exposing position. The public of Azerbaijan and the international structures represented by the European Parliament are justly outraged by the presentation of a new trumped-up charge to Mehman Huseynov and demand the release of all political prisoners," the statement said.
The Center for the Protection of Political Prisoners urged citizens to take an active part in the opposition rally on Saturday. The Center also demanded the authorities immediately and unconditionally release all political prisoners and stop the arrests of social activists. -06D-
