Conference of Ministers of Non-Aligned Movement Opened in Baku
Baku / 05.04.18 / Turan: A two-day interim conference of Foreign Ministers within the framework of the Non-Aligned Movement on the topic "Promotion of international peace and security for the sake of sustainable development" started in Baku on April 5.
More than 800 people take part in its work.
The conference of the Foreign Ministers of the Non-Aligned Movement was opened by the Foreign Minister of Venezuela Jorge Arreas, who presides over the event.
The opening ceremony was also attended by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
The event is attended by the Foreign Ministers of Turkey, Iran, North Korea, Afghanistan, India, Palestine, Ecuador, delegations of other countries, as well as the UN General Assembly Chairman Miroslav Lajcak.
As a result of the conference, the Baku Declaration will be adopted.
Azerbaijan joined the Movement in 2011. In 2019 Azerbaijan will host the XVIII Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement. In 2019-2022 Azerbaijan will chair the Non-Aligned Movement.
120 non-aligned countries participate in the Non-Aligned Movement. 17 states and 10 international organizations have observer status. -06D--

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) today issued five rulings on applications from Azerbaijan. The case of "Afgan Mammadov v. Azerbaijan" concerned the complainant's exclusion from the Bar Association. Mammadov was expelled based on a complaint filed by a colleague, which he considered unjust. The ECHR ruled that Mammadov's rights had been violated and ordered Azerbaijan to pay him €5,000 in compensation for moral damage and €1,000 to cover legal costs.
