David Babayan and Levon Mnatsakanyan were arrested and charged with serious crimes
Baku/30.09.23/Turan: Former “Minister of Foreign Affairs” of Karabakh David Babayan was arrested and brought to investigation on charges of committing a number of serious crimes, the Prosecutor General’s Office of Azerbaijan reported on September 30.
A criminal case was opened against him on October 28, 2020, on charges of planning, preparing, unleashing and waging an aggressive war, recruiting mercenaries and their financing, organizing terrorism, violation of humanitarian law during war, inciting national hatred, etc.
On September 29, Babayan was detained and handed over to the investigation, the report says.
The Prosecutor General's Office also announced that the former "Minister of Defense" of Karabakh, Leva Mnatsakanyan, was involved in the investigation.
A criminal case was initiated against him in 2006 on charges of torture. In particular, in 2002, in the village of Alkhanly, Fuzuli region, he tortured the captive Azerbaijani Mamedov Ilham Yusif oglu and other prisoners.
Mnatsakanyan was also detained on September 29. -0-
