Defense Ministers of Azerbaijan, Turkey and Georgia discussed regional security
Baku/22.12.22/Turan: On December 21, a trilateral meeting of Defense Ministers of Azerbaijan, Turkey and Georgia Zakir Hasanov, Hulusi Akar and Juansher Burchuladze took place in the Turkish city of Kayseri.
According to the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry, the military-political situation in the region, the development of military cooperation in a trilateral format, the holding of bilateral and trilateral joint exercises, as well as the ensuring of regional security projects were discussed at the meeting. Following the results of the meeting, a joint declaration was signed.
According to the Turkish Ministry of National Defense, Minister Hulusi Akar stated that the alliance of Azerbaijan, Turkey and Georgia has a great influence on the region.
"At this summit, my colleagues and I discussed existing and potential issues of cooperation concerning our countries in a broad perspective. We also exchanged information and shared views on global and regional developments.
We continue to cooperate on the basis of future cooperation prospects between the three countries on defense, security and defense industry issues.
Following the entry into force of the "Memorandum of Understanding on Defense Cooperation" of 2020, we have made important progress in the field of security. The development and expansion of strategic partnership and cooperation between our countries is of great practical importance," the Minister said. -03D-

The International Committee of Concerned Scholars (ICS) has appealed to the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, requesting his assistance in securing the release of the arrested researcher, Igbal Abilov. The ICS expressed concern that Abilov's arrest "may be related to his research on ethnic minorities in Azerbaijan, conducted in collaboration with scholars from Armenia."
