Discussion in Public Chamber on the presidential election of 2013
The meeting of the Coordination Council of the Public Chamber, which discussed the structural reforms in the opposition groups, and to the forthcoming presidential elections, continued on Friday to late evening.
Specific decisions were made and discussions will continue on Wednesday. An official report on the outcome of the meeting was made. As it became known to Turan from unofficial sources, the main topic of the discussion was a dilemma - whether the opposition should participate in the elections. They expressed doubt that the government will carry out real reform of the Electoral Code and agree to democratic elections. Therefore, there is no sense to participate in anti-democratic elections.
The opposition press called as possible candidates for the role of a single opposition candidate the head of PFPA Ali Kerimli and the leader of Musavat Isa Gambar. But it is more said by their supporters, while the leaders themselves abstain.
However, one of the opposition leaders, Panah Hussein prefers not to use the term "single candidate" and talks about a "major candidate." Without naming specific names, Hussein has proposed to select this candidate now.
It is assumed that the Public Chamber will develop in relation to the election a document drawn up on the basis of compromise, which will be submitted to the meeting of the Public Chamber at the end of December or in January 2013
With regard to reform of the Public Chamber itself, it is expected to create new units and to elect its new composition in the coming months. -05B06-
