Baku/17.09.18/Turan: The Institute for Reporters" Freedom and Safety organizes Monday, September 17th, at the OSCE ODIHR Human Dimension Implementation Meeting 2018,Hotel Sofitel Victoria, Meeting Room 2, from 8.15b a.m. to 9.45 a.m. a side event where it will expose the core issues in the sphere of freedom of speech, freedom of assembly and association.
"Azerbaijan has a long and unfortunate history of human rights violations. The continuing shrinking space of the civil society culminated in a major crackdown against it in 2014 when multiple national and international NGOs based in Azerbaijan had criminal cases open against them on different made up charges. The problem persists to this day, as it is difficult to impossible for some of those organisations to operate inside the country. Azerbaijani authorities have shown time and again a blatant disregard for the fundamental freedoms, stopping those who have the power to expose their corruption and wrongdoing by any means necessary," Emin Huseynov, executive director Institute for Reporters" Freedom and Safety believes.
The speakers who will talk in depth about the human rights problems in Azerbaijan include Emin Huseynov and also Krzysztof Bobinski, head of Unia and Polska Foundation, Warsaw; co-chair Steering Committee, Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum; and Anna Rurka, President of the Conference of INGOs of the Council of Europe. -06D-

The United States and the European Union, which tried to position themselves as mediators in the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict, have come up with nothing and merely copied Russia's ideas, distorting their essence in order to "hijack" the peace process for themselves. However, their true goal was to take control of the region, to insert themselves into it, and to push out Russia, as well as Iran and Türkiye, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated at a briefing on November 13.
