ECHR Admits Violation of Rights of 13 Azerbaijani Activists
Baku / 09.09.19 / Turan: The European Court of Human Rights today announced decisions on 15 complaints from Azerbaijan against 13 political and public activists.
The complaints were related to administrative arrests and fines imposed for participating in peaceful protests in 2006-2015.
The applicants raised a question about the violation of their rights to the inadmissibility of torture, liberty and security of person, fair trial, freedom of expression, freedom of association, etc.
The ECHR found violations of the applicants' rights and decided to pay compensation to Elchin Hasanov (in two cases), Nazim Abbasly - 9,000 euros, Ruslan Nasirli (in two cases) - 14,000 euros, Vugar Rzayev - 7,270 euros, Islam Hasanov - 5,750 euros, Mubariz Abdulkerimov - 5,750 euros, Rauf Abdulrahmanli - 5,500 euros, Rafig Jalilov - 9,200 euros, Turkel Alisoy - 11,000 euros, Sagif Gurbanov - 11,000 euros.
Only Fuad Hajiyev was not compensated, since he did not set a material claim for himself.
The ECHR also awarded compensation for legal costs. -06D--

Speaking on November 22 at a press conference in Baku, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock responded to a question about whether Berlin would provide "Taurus" missiles to Kyiv after Russia's use of ballistic missiles against Ukraine. "Therefore, this question cannot be answered with a simple 'yes'," she said.
