ECHR announces 4 judgments on cases from Azerbaijan
Baku/12.01.23/Turan: On January 12, the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) announced 4 decisions on more than 10 complaints from Azerbaijan, the head of the group for monitoring the decisions of the ECHR on Azerbaijan, Khalid Agaliyev told Turan.
According to him, the applicants complained about the violation of property rights, fair trial, inadmissibility of discrimination, freedom of association.
The ECHR recognized as unlawful the refusal of the Ministry of Justice to register in 2009 the Center for Monitoring Elections and Democracy Education (CMED), satisfying the complaint of its founders Anar Mammadli, Bashir Suleymanli and Suliddin Askerov.
The ECHR ruled to pay the applicants 4,500 euros in compensation for non-pecuniary damage, another 200 euros for translation costs and 500 euros for reimbursement of legal costs to lawyer Intigam Aliyev.
In the case of Gunel Yusifli and others v. Azerbaijan, the applicants complained about problems in the privatization of state property. However, the ECHR declared inadmissible the complaint of 8 applicants in this case.
In the case of Miriev and others v. Azerbaijan, 11 applicants complained about non-enforcement of local court decisions.
The ECHR ruled to pay compensation to the applicants: Oruj Miriyev - 2050 euros, Idayat Garaev - 2650 euros, Kerim Yasinov - 2050 euros, Gasim Gasimov - 3850 euros, Arif Gashimov - 2050 euros, Allahgul Imanov - 2050 euros, Ramiz Najafov - 2050 euros, Irada Ashurova - 2050 euros, Hajar Mammadova - 2050 euros, Matlab Nazarov - 1750 euros, Saray Saftarova - 3850 euros.
In the case "Samedov v. Azerbaijan", the applicant complained about the use of disproportionate measures against participants in a public meeting. However, in this case the government proposed a settlement agreement and undertook to pay the applicant EUR 2,850 in compensation. With this in mind, the ECHR excluded Samedov's statement from the list of pending cases. ---16В---
