Egypt Sinking into Civil War, Already 30 Dead
The ongoing clashes in Egypt between supporters of ousted President Mursi and his opponents and the army killed more than 30 people, and injured 300 on Friday.
In Cairo and other cities tens of thousands of supporters of political Islam took to the streets, and the most violent clashes were in Alexandria. There were 14 victims of riots and hundreds of people were injured.
BBC Russian Service notes that the clashes are becoming "more and more violent."
In Cairo, at least four people were killed last night in clashes between supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood and residents of a district in the city.
Clashes also happened in El Manial, located near the island of Rhoda. They began after the Islamists routed several shops, ITAR-TASS reported.
Residents of nearby houses tried to prevent the attackers, and one of them climbed to a mosque and opened fire with a machine gun at the Islamists located in the street.
As of Saturday morning, street battles were in Ismailia in northeastern Egypt, where three people were killed and dozens were injured. -02D-
