Eldar Hasanov transferred to the military hospital of the State Security Service
Baku/02.07.21/Turan: On July 2, Former ambassador of Azerbaijan to Serbia and ex-prosecutor general of the country, Eldar Hasanov, was transferred to the military hospital of the State Security Service (SSS) for examination, treatment and surgery, said his lawyer Javad Javadov.
On May 7, the ECHR as interim measures, decided to transfer Hasanov to a military hospital. “However, this decision was not implemented by the responsible persons,” Javadoc said.
After the appeal of the defense, on June 23 the ECHR took a second decision in an even more harsh form, demanding the hospitalization of Hasanov. However, this decision was also executed with a delay.
“Only today Eldar Hasanov was transferred to the hospital. As a result, during this period his condition worsened even more. Perhaps, in the near future, he will undergo not one, but several operations,” Javadov said.
Hasanov believes that the delay in the execution of the decisions of the ECHR is the result of many years of personal enmity and revenge on the part of one of the officials, the lawyer said.
“We hope that, taking into account the serious health of Eldar Hasanov, the measure of restraint will be changed in the near future,” Javadov added.
Eldar Hasanov was detained on August 13, 2020 by employees of the State Security Service, and the next day the court arrested him on charges of abuse and misappropriation of budget funds.
In 2001-2020, Eldar Hasanov served as ambassador of Azerbaijan to Romania, and then to Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia. In 1995-2000 he served as the Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan.-06D-
