Emil Salimov Released after Search in His Apartment (updated)
Baku/12.01.21/Turan: Late in the evening on January 12, the head of the PFPA youth committee Emil Salimov was released by law enforcement officers.
He himself told Turan about this.
According to Salimov, on January 12, within 4 hours, he was interrogated at the Investigation Department of the Prosecutor General's Office as a witness in the case of a bodyguard on a voluntary basis of the head of the Popular Front Party Ali Karimli, Niyameddin Ahmedov.
“They interrogated me until 20.00, and took evidence. Then my apartment was searched on the basis of alleged possession of some illegal item. Naturally, they
did not find anything and let me go. But, I was warned to always have a mobile phone on me, because they can call again,” Salimov said.
At the same time, he noted that no pressure was exerted on him during the investigation.

Prosecutor's Office Inspects Young Oppositionist’s Apartment
Baku/12.01.21/Turan: An examination is carried out at the apartment of the head of the youth committee of the Popular Front of Azerbaijan Party (PFPA) Emil Salimov, after his interrogation at the Investigative Department of the Prosecutor General's Office.
Turan was informed about this in the PFPA.
Salimov was summoned to the Investigative Directorate of the Prosecutor General's Office on Tuesday at about 4 pm for interrogation as a witness in the case of a bodyguard on a voluntary basis of the leader of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA) Ali Kerimli, Niyameddin Ahmedov.
At about 20.10 Salimov left the building of the prosecutor's office and managed to inform his party comrades that he was being taken home to inspect the apartment.
It was not possible to obtain comments from the Prosecutor General's Office.
Recall that on April 16, 2020, the Khatai District Court arrested the PFPA activist Niyameddin Ahmedov for 30 days for violating quarantine and disobeying the police.
On April 28, he was taken from the detention point for the administratively arrested of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to an unknown place, where he was severely tortured. He was demanded to testify against Ali Karimli.
After the expiration of the term of administrative arrest, on May 16, Ahmedov was charged under Article 214-1 (financing of terrorism) of the Criminal Code and was arrested again. Human rights activists recognized N. Ahmedov as a political prisoner. —21b-
