Erdogan Announces His Victory in Presidential Elections
Baku / 25.06.18 / Turan: Recep Tayyip Erdogan called himself the winner of the presidential elections in Turkey, gaining more than 50% of the vote. The Turkish CEC also announced the victory of Erdogan.
"According to unofficial results, our people have entrusted the role of the President of Turkey to me, and the parliamentary majority - to the People's Alliance. This is a big responsibility," Erdogan said.
The opposition leader Muharrem Ince promises to make a statement after counting all the votes. He announced holding a press conference. His supporters are gathering at the headquarters of the People's Republican Party in Ankara to hold a protest.
Supporters of Erdogan, in turn, go to Taksim Square in Istanbul.
The vote count continues. According to the latest data, Erdogan is gaining 52.2% of the vote, while his closest rival, Muharrem Ince, is gaining 30.8%. A total of about 98% of the ballots were counted.
In the parliamentary elections also held on June 24 the Justice and Development Party (42.2%) led by Erdogan won the victory. The People's Republican Party gained 22.7%. The Pro-Kurdish Party of Democracy of Peoples gained 11.5%, the Nationalist Movement Party gained 11%, and Good Party gained 10%.
The ruling Justice and Development Party in the alliance with the Nationalist Party will receive 293 seats in the parliament. The People's Republican Party in the alliance with the Good Party and the pro-Islamist welfare party will receive 146 seats. The Pro-Kurdish Party of Democracy of Peoples will receive 67 seats.
The turnout for both ballots was about 87 - 88%. -02D-

Journalist Nargiz Abaslamova, held in Baku's Detention Center No. 1, was subjected to violence by a guard. While passing by the cell of her colleague Sevinj Vagifgizi, Abaslamova tried to greet her, reported on Abzas Media's Facebook page. However, guard Aygul Babaeva forcibly dragged Abaslamova away and deeply scratched the journalist's arm.
