EU Ambassador Peter Michalko on the "European Year of Youth"
Baku/05.10.22/Turan: The Delegation of the European Union to Azerbaijan is launching a campaign in connection with the "European Year of Youth", stated at a press conference on October 5 the head of the EU Delegation to Azerbaijan, Ambassador Peter Michalko.
The EU has declared this year the "Year of Youth" due to the challenges young people faced during the coronavirus pandemic. “Our goal is to develop cooperation with the government, educational institutions and civil society. We are proud that more and more teachers and students are participating in Erasmus+ projects,” he said.
“As part of this campaign, we plan to create equal opportunities for education and employment of young people. Before the pandemic, 3,500 Azerbaijani students will receive scholarships under the Erasmus+ exchange program. This year we have increased this figure. Last year, 500 educational institutions took advantage of loans under our loan program," the ambassador said.
Mikhalko added that this program will be implemented not only in Baku, but also in the regions of Azerbaijan. “More than 10 thousand children and parents in the regions were involved in the educational program for early childhood development. Also, 885 people from the regions underwent vocational training,” the ambassador said.
According to the ambassador, a number of events are planned to be held in Baku within the framework of the European Year of Youth in the coming weeks, and this action will end on October 28.
The Ambassador also drew attention to the EU's support for the demining process. It should be noted that 13 projects are planned to be implemented in Azerbaijan within the European Year of Youth campaign. --16D--
