EU calls on Baku and Yerevan to de-escalate situation at the border
Brussels/28.05.21/Turan: The European Union called on Armenia and Azerbaijan to de-escalate, and also offered assistance in resolving the situation at the border, reads the statement by the spokesman for the EU Foreign Service Peter Stano.
"The recent events on the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan are dangerous and alarming, an immediate de-escalation is necessary. The European Union calls on both sides to refrain from any further military deployment or action. All forces must withdraw to the positions they held before May 12, both sides must to be involved in negotiations on the delimitation and demarcation of the border, " the statement says.
The EU also called on Azerbaijan to immediately release all prisoners of war and detainees, "welcomed all efforts aimed at reducing tensions, including proposals for a possible international observation mission."
"The EU is ready to provide expert support and assistance in the delimitation and demarcation of the border, to support the necessary efforts to build confidence," the statement reads.-02D-

During the hearing, the investigator requested that the complaint be rejected, while Ibrahimov's lawyer, Aghil Laidj, pointed out the lack of grounds for keeping Ibrahimov in custody.

Arrested economist Fazil Gasimov has reportedly faced pressure after protesting the interruption of a phone call with his family on November 16. "The phone call was cut off, and Fazil demanded that the connection be restored. Then, Jalal Alizadeh, a detention center officer, along with his colleagues, forcibly removed Fazil from the phone room in the medical unit of the facility, tearing his jacket and dragging him across the floor before throwing him into a cell.
