Expert on the causes of the disaster MiG-29
Baku/22.08.19/Turan: Military experts question the official version of the Ministry of Defense about the causes of the crash on July 24 of the Azerbaijan Air Force MiG-29 plane, according to which it encountered a bird or a flock of birds. As a result, the pilot was injured, lost control and the plane crashed into the sea.
An expert in the field of military aviation told Turan on condition of anonymity, that birds can only damage the plane"s engine if it gets into it. Other military sources say there have been cases of damage to the cabin and depressurization. However, this did not cause the immediate death of the aircraft and the pilot.
On the other hand, the flight recorder contains only the conversation and the technical parameters of the flight, and therefore could not contain information about the collision of the aircraft.
In the event of a collision, the pilot always has the opportunity to contact immediately the ground, because the pilot"s index finger is always on the communication button. In case of a strong collision of the plane, the catapult automatically fires. However, this did not happen.
To determine accurately the causes of the crash, you need to know at what height the plane was at the time of the collision.
One alternative version of the crash is a failed maneuver at low altitude. However, aircraft are equipped with a hazard warning system when maneuvering at low altitude. Perhaps the fighter this system was faulty. It could happen that the pilot at low altitude did not have time to rectify the situation and the plane literally dived into the sea in an upright position. If the plane crashed in a horizontal position, then when the catapult hit the water, it would fire automatically, and the pilot could survive, thanks to the life jacket, the expert noted.
We can add that in the world numerous cases of collision of military aircraft and helicopters with birds have been recorded. Sometimes this led to damage to the cab and even engine failure. However, there were no cases that the catapult failed to work because of the bird. -06B-
