Explosion at the headquarters of PPFA
Around 04.00 am on Monday, an explosion occurred in a two-story headquarters building of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA) in Baku at Talat Shikhaliyev Street. Nobody was injured in the blast.
The explosion occurred in the storage room in the basement of the building, which has no relation to PFPA.
The fire was extinguished by firefighters from MOE.
However, the explosion broke glass on the windows of the building and damaged property on the ground floor in the hall, where the party took measures. It threatens with collapse of the walls.
According to preliminary information, the cause of the explosion was a gas leak from a cylinder, the remains of which were found at the scene.
PFPA also does not exclude the explosion to create obstacles to the activities of the party. In the party they pay attention to the fact that last week 5 party activists were subjected to administrative arrests.
The entrepreneur, who leases the storage space, reported that it has never been used and there was a gas cylinder. "There was a tile warehouse and it was not necessary to use gas," said a tenant, who asked to be anonymous. According to him, the explosion spoiled goods totaling 15,000 manat.
Electricity is off in the affected and adjacent buildings.
The party has rented this office since November 2013. There were also sessions of the National Council of Democratic Forces. -03C06-
