Fizuli airport instead of Khojaly?
Baku / 05.01.21 / Turan: An international airport will be built in Fizuli, the head of state Ilham Aliyev said on January 5. “On my instructions, an international airport will be built in Fizuli, now a place is being selected,” he said and added that this year the runway should be commissioned, and from there it is close to Shushi.
In the Soviet period, one could get to Shusha either through Khankendi or through Lachin, and now we are opening a new road. At the same time, these roads are also operating and “our citizens, who are carrying out repair and restoration work there today, use them”.
“These roads are open for us and we can go there whenever we want, so it will be. But the construction of the Fizuli international airport will create opportunities for inviting foreign guests to Shusha,” Aliyev said.
He did not say anything about the existing airport in Khojaly, which remains under Armenian control. If a new airport is built in Fizuli, it can be concluded that the airport in Khojaly will remain outside the control of Baku in the near future. -02D-
