Within the framework of the event, the two ministers communicated in an informal atmosphere, the Armenian media reported, having published the photo.
Speaking at the meeting, the Armenian minister said that the status and security of Nagorno-Karabakh are the main priorities for Armenia. According to him, ensuring an atmosphere for a dialogue is of fundamental importance for the effectiveness of the negotiation process.
Tensions in the line of contact in Karabakh and on the border of Armenia and Azerbaijan, belligerent rhetoric, obstruction of contacts between people should be eliminated, Zohrabyan said. He also called for refraining from provoking an arms race in the region.
Elmar Mamedyarov stated that the Karabakh conflict seriously harms cooperation within the framework of the Eastern Partnership. "First of all, Armenia must withdraw its troops from the occupied Azerbaijani territories. The continuation of the occupation poses a serious threat to peace and security in the region. If the Armenian foreign minister talks about peace, then Armenia must withdraw its troops from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan," he said. -02D-
