Former Deputy Commander of the Border Service transferred to house arrest
Baku/ 08.10.20 / Turan: The former deputy head of the State Border Service (SBS) Afgan Nagiyev was transferred under house arrest by the decision of the Baku military court. The press service of the General Prosecutor's Office confirmed the information.
Nagiyev and a number of senior officers of the Coast Guard Service of the State Border Guard Service were detained during a joint special operation by the State Security Service and the Prosecutor General's Office in May this year.
They were charged under Article 308 (abuse of office) and 311.3 (large bribe-taking) of the Criminal Code.
The court chose a preventive measure against them in the form of arrest for a period of 4 months. They were charged with protecting illegal fishing poachers in the Caspian Sea. -16B-
