The Prosecutor General's Office, the State Border Service and the Mine Clearance Agency (ANAMA) reported in a joint statement on August 2 that a mine explosion occurred on Friday in the village of Gizilhajili in the Gazakh region, which was under Armenian occupation for more than 30 years and was recently returned by Armenia to Azerbaijan.
As a result, a serviceman of the State Border Service of Azerbaijan, Ensign Ahadli Khayal and an employee of the Agency, Mehdizade Afik, were blown up on an anti-personnel mine during mine clearance operations. Both were injured in the leg area as a result of an anti-personnel mine explosion during a mine clearance operation.
At the same time, the agency's employees, Alekperov Elchin and Mirzaev Yavar oglu, received shrapnel wounds. The injured were immediately taken to the hospital, and first aid was provided to them. There is no danger to their lives. Currently, employees of the Shamkir military and Gazakh district Prosecutor's office are examining the scene of the incident and carrying out other procedural actions.
*On May 24, the village of Gizilhajili and three other villages of Gazakh were returned to Azerbaijan after 30 years of Armenian occupation.
