French Senate's resolution is false, provocative and has no legal effect - Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry
Baku/16.11.22/Turan: The resolution of the French Senate is of provocative nature and is detrimental to the process of normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia. The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry's comments on the resolution adopted by the French Senate calling for sanctions against Azerbaijan and recognition of "Nagorno Karabakh".
The resolution reflects false and slanderous statements, far from reality, and serves to damage the process of normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, the press service of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said.
"The resolution adopted by the Senate, which has no legal force, once again demonstrates the biased and one-sided political position of France, which claims to contribute to the peace process," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The document regretfully says that the resolution of the French Parliament Upper House ignores the occupation of the Azerbaijani territories by Armenia for nearly 30 years, massacres of civilians, plundering of towns and villages, brutal violations of hundreds of thousands of internally displaced people, conducting of ethnic cleansing policy.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan emphasizes in its comments that the Karabakh region is an inalienable and internationally recognized territory of Azerbaijan.
"The rights and security of the Armenian population living in this region are an internal matter of Azerbaijan and it will be ensured in accordance with the Constitution of Azerbaijan," the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said in the commentary.
"This Senate resolution, while inspiring revanchist forces in France, does not contribute to peace, stability and progress in the region and is far from 'encouraging sustainable peace in the region' as its title claims," the Foreign Ministry' comment further stressed.
"We strongly reject another resolution adopted by the French Senate," the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry concludes".-06B-

"We are strengthening efforts to open direct air routes, as well as economic development and energy," said Djuric. The minister expressed confidence that cooperation between Serbia and Azerbaijan would become even closer and more intensive in the near future.
