Fuad Gahramanli accused of attempting to seize power
Baku / 24.07.20 / Turan: Late in the evening on July 24, the Nasimi District Court of Baku, arrested Fuad Gahramanli, a member of the Presidium of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA),the PFPA press service reported.
He was involved in the case of "illegal actions" during the rally in support of the army on July 15. He, like other persons involved in the case, was charged under the Article 186.2.1 (damage or destruction of other people's property), 233 (violation of public order), 315 (resistance or change in violence against the police) of the Criminal Code. In addition, Gahramanli is charged under the Article 278 (committing acts aimed at the violent seizure of power or change of the constitutional order) of the Criminal Code. Under this article, Gahramanli faces a prison sentence of 12 to 20 years.
The PFPA believes that Gahramanli's accusations are fabricated and politically motivated. The party said that Gahramanli was not at the rally on July 15.
Gahramanli is one of the leading figures of the PFPA.
In 2015, he was arrested for the Nardaran events and subsequently sentenced to 12 years in prison. In March 2019, Gahramanli was released before timer in accordance with a presidential pardon order. –06В-
