Further arming of Armenia by Russia is devoid of logic - Ilham Aliyev
Baku/14.08.21/Turan: Baku expects Moscow to ensure the implementation of all provisions of the trilateral Statement of the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia of November 10, 2020.
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said this in an interview with CNN Turk TV channel on Saturday.
According to him, most of its provisions have already been implemented. “But there are some questions that still remain open. This is our expectation. Russia, as a neighbor of Azerbaijan and a close ally of Armenia, of course, plays a special role in this region. It `s naturally. We hope that Russia will continue to make every effort for the security of this region and will take steps to ensure long-term peace. At the same time, our expectations are that Russia does not arm Armenia. We brought this issue to the attention of the Russian side. This worries us, ” Aliyev continued.
In his opinion, the Armenian people and the leadership of Armenia of this country have come to terms with the new realities in the region after the 44-day war, which was confirmed by the parliamentary elections in this country.
“This is an unprecedented picture in history, when a defeated leadership gets the votes of the people again. In this case, of course, the armament of Armenia does not fit into any logic. We do not see this yet, we do not observe it. But there were some statements from the Russian side. A few days ago, the Russian Defense Minister, during a meeting with the Armenian Defense Minister, said that the process of delivering Russian weapons to Armenia had begun. This is very worrisome, " Aliyev said.
He called the statement of the new Minister of Defense of Armenia with threats against Azerbaijan irresponsible.
“That is, apparently, the Second Karabakh War has not yet become a lesson for everyone. If so, we are ready to teach the lesson again. Therefore, we hope that Russia will not arm Armenia, because there is no need for this, ”Aliyev noted. — 06B-
