Gubad Ibadoglu is not given the results of medical examinations in the pre-trial detention center
Baku/30.08.23/Turan: The brother of opposition politician Gubad Ibadoglu Ghalib Bayramov, who is being held in the Baku pre-trial detention center-1, appealed through social networks to Ombudswoman Sabina Aliyeva, as well as to the leadership of the Penitentiary Service and the Ministry of Justice in connection with not providing him with the conclusions of prison doctors who examined him.
"I ask you, in accordance with the requirements of the legislation of Azerbaijan, to ensure that the results of examinations and the results of the analysis of my brother are provided to us, or give us the opportunity to provide him with an examination at our own expense," Bayramov wrote on his Facebook account. According to him, the course of treatment prescribed by London doctors will be completed in the coming days.
"After that, he must undergo an examination again. Currently, he takes 8 medications daily. It is possible that after the examination, some medications will need to be stopped and replaced with others, or the doses will need to be changed.
Therefore, back in early August, we appealed to the leadership of the Baku pre-trial detention center, the Penitentiary Service, the Ministry of Justice and the Ombudsman in order to receive the results of ultrasound and X-ray examinations, echocardiograms, and all tests to send them to doctors in London (Ibadoglu lived and worked there for a long time).
About a month later, we received a response from Rashad Huseynov, the head of the Medical and Sanitary unit of the Baku pre-trial detention center-1, in which it was written in general words that the blood sugar level, blood pressure were "slightly higher than normal", etc.
In the response, called "extract from the prisoner's medical card", there is not a single specific medical appointment," Bayramov noted.
The attempts to get comments from the Penitentiary Service, the Main Medical Department of the Ministry of Justice, the Office of the Ombudsman, were futile.
*On July 24, the Narimanov District Court of Baku arrested Gubad Ibadoglu for 3 months and 26 days on charges of making counterfeit money. The Azerbaijani Interior Ministry said that Ibadoglu is associated with supporters of Fethullah Gulen, accused of an attempted coup in 2016 in Turkey. On August 25, he was charged with another charge of "manufacturing, storing or distributing religious extremist materials."
Gubad Ibadoglu denies the accusations, considering them absurd. Many international organizations and officials have called on official Baku to immediately release the politician. ---03B06---

On Friday, the Baku Serious Crimes Court continued the proceedings in the case of opposition politician Tofiq Yagublu. Yagublu's lawyers requested the summons of additional witnesses, including members of the National Council of Democratic Forces, opposition activists, and Yagublu’s wife, Maya Yagublu. Contrary to the prosecution's claims that Yagublu was involved in handing over money to facilitate a visa for Elshan Huseynov in the Zabrat settlement, his lawyers argued that he was actually attending a National Council meeting in the Pirshaghi settlement at that time. Witnesses can confirm this. The court partially granted the request, deciding to call four additional witnesses. The next court session is scheduled for October 18.
